Josephine Hill - Farm Owner

Josie continues her family tradition of farming, and has been growing vegetables at Ragley Farm for nearly two decades. She started the on-site market and has hosted many apprentices over the years who have gone on to become agrarians themselves. The baked goods at the market started after an abundant crop of apples and blackberries ended up as pie filling. She has since taken courses in culinary arts, and her repertoire has expanded to includes various breads, croissants, muffins, and pastries.

Rob Hill - Farm / Sawmill Owner

Rob owns and operates the Ragley sawmill, specializing in beautiful local cedar.  He can often be seen casually "milling" about the property with his faithful farm dog, Leo. For more inquiries, please contact him directly via email.

Samantha Parker - Garden Manager / Kitchen Manager

Sam originally hails from the desolate deserts of Arizona.  From there, she moved to Vancouver and was instantly captivated by her new environment and surprised at how many things grew in the Pacific NW. Since making the move from Vancouver in 2012, where she had previously been working as a trained butcher after attending both UBC and the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, she soon found Ragley Farm. Ever since, she has been involved with a number of farm related activities, including: dairy cow milking, cheese making, gardening, kitchen production and baking, chicken rearing, and beekeeping. She continues to enjoy the diverse mixed farm setting Ragley Farm has to offer and has embraced the community of East Sooke as her home.




Julia Blair - Apprentice Farmer

Having grown weary of stinging nettles and single season potato plantings in her native home of Scotland, Julia ventured to the United States, where she set up camp with outdoor education organization, Outward Bound. Spending weeks in the bush at a time, she longed for fresh vegetables, thus inspiring the formation of a small community garden and part time work at a local heirloom seed company in Asheville, NC. We are excited to adopt her into the Ragley family this season, where farming on a large rock ridden island below mizzly clouds should feel just like home.

The Land

Ragley Farm is a 1912 heritage farm and community hub located next to scenic East Sooke Park, about 40 minutes southwest of Victoria. We use organic practices, and our on-site market has been running for almost 20 years. We also supply produce to restaurants, including OLO (formerly Ulla), and Laurel Point Inn in Victoria, as well as Wild Mountain, The Sooke Harbour House, and the Smokin' Tuna near Sooke.
